The beginning…
So looking back how did it actually begin?
Well in 2007 while browsing the web I can across an article from National Geographic about The Genographic Project.
This was an ambitious project to map the Human Family Tree but it did offer relatively inexpensive DNA testing. This struck a chord as I always was interested in technology, my history and how to piece it all together. Coming from Ireland with a deep rich and somewhat unsettled history I had always appreciated old things and the wonder at what sights they had seen, places they had been and the people who had interacted with them. Different to the usual thoughts on who had touched that old coin? walked in that castle grounds? handled that ancient sword? here was a way to reach back into my own past and think about who I was and who were the people who had travelled on the journey culminating in me!
It started with the arrival of that 5″x 8″ box with the testing kit.
